EPIC D.C. WEEK OH-TEN

monday: joanna newsom
friday: show at subterranean a with radical face

monday; i had listened to joanna newsom before and greatly liked a number of her songs, but have one on me, the album, has really really captured me; and now i consider her one of my favorite artists of all time, especially after monday's performance. i don't know if she or neal morgan, her drummer, and the whole mini-orchestra for that matter, know how their performances can affect someone. maybe one day we could be like them. such orchestrations! such pristine vocals! oh what feelings and swells! we (two dans, rachel, connor, and me) sat in the first seats directly in front of her and when i turned around, i saw a crowd of not Specifics, but Everyones everywhere, and this really made me happy. i constantly have this performance in my mind as a source of long long lasting inspiration for composing or performing or even just every day belief in certain essences that don't have to do with music. i don't know how to explain this exactly. i am going to start writing pieces on piano if i can... i am going to start practice singing out loud to myself when i move into the attic next year... i can never forget that day! i could write about this for a long time, but instead i'll just think about it forever.

friday; i am happy that phil and adam got radical face to play in their living space; the whole situation is an incredible story. their space was wonderfully set up and despite the overwhelming amounts of people (there were even moms that drove their high school freshmen sons and daughters to the show, i loved that), we were still capable of playing mic-less. even at the most quiet parts of the songs, you could hear a pin drop. everyone was very personable and positive and a girl in pink fell in love with connor, and radical face's performance was awesome; all were knitted close together and singing and smiling. thanks to judah and aliza for this! martha and kate were there too and afterwards we just talked about our spirit animals and permanent age essences. i will always remember this show!
